Glass Sculptures, Platters and Mirrors

Artist, Shannon Muse

“I have multi-generational roots in the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys, am pleased to have lived and raised my family here, and had my work so directly influenced.

I have been exploring glass for over 30 years. My business, Paradise Art Glass (www.paradiseartglass.net), has been operating for 15 years and I have had satisfying series’ collaborations with interesting clients. My work can be seen in several public buildings and churches across the state.

Having an early background in the construction world has contributed some handy skills toward creating architectural art glass as well as a love of working large scale. Currently I am interested in using glass as art in functional applications such as lighting, screens and vessels. I am also creating human scale sculpture combining fused or cast glass with steel and stone.  I like glass with thickness and weightiness to it and am drawn to the round form.

Glass has an interesting combination of old and new to it. Being tied to an ancient craft and seeing the new technologies in glass intrigues and inspires me to combine the two. My love of public art got me involved in our local Public Art Commission in Carbondale.  It has allowed me to meet and interview the sculptors that participate and we often enjoy the interaction of working together on collaborative pieces. My work can be seen at the annual ”Wild Woman Show” in Glenwood Springs.”
